We have a new champion!

Dave showing us who claimed the trophy!

A big congratulations to Dave Paukovitz for winning the dream trip to the 2025 WSOP.  The package is worth $4230.  Of this, Dave is commitment is to spend $2000 on bracelet events.

In case you are interested and as we have done in years past, I will send him the $2230 to do with as he may.  The committed $2000 will be sent upon fulfillment of his commitments.

These commitments are:  Posting (or allowing me to post) a photo of himself in front of the large WSOP sign, photo of his related buyin(s), and a photo of himself at the game playing.

I hope Dave is as excited as I was last year to win this thing and to go enjoy the game we all love on the world's biggest stage.  (and on our dime!) Have fun Dave and we can't wait to see your schedule!

The new club seems to have gone off without a hitch.  We had a record 35 players for opening night.  Record sizes equal record payouts.  More on that in 2 weeks.

Our annual awards ceremony will be at the Galveston VFW on Monday, May 12th at 6:00 pm central.  We will be streaming the event on Facebook Live from our Freezeout Poker group.  We will be revealing the trophy, talking 2nd place, and of course, be pulling a ball for the $500 cash.  Stay tuned!

We now have the domain FreezeoutPoker.com!  So if you find yourself telling someone new about our game, please let them know this easy to remember shortcut.

This week's Tip of the Cap goes to.... all of our new members and the people who have recruited them.

Next Newsletter: From the Beginning.  A multi month beginner course on things I wish someone had told me about poker.

If you haven't tried the Zoom group hosted by JerzeJoe, you need to give it a shot.  It's a load of fun and sometimes you can get an idea on what the other zoomers are thinking.

This video is setting up our beginner course that will, hopefully, shed some light on the basics of poker.  Phil Galfond, of course, is a very thoughtful poker player and is as solid as it gets when it comes to the mental game.

Small pocket pairs are played early in a tournament to hit a set.  They are largely folded in middle of a tournament.  At the end of the tournament, they are played to win as a simple pair.

The WSOP has rolled out a new app WSOP++.  It allows you to buyin and skip the lines.  I'll let you know this summer how it works
