July 1, 2023 Newsletter The News.... Our test run of sending a player to the WSOP on a merit based points system was a resounding success!  Joe Schwenk won a $3040.00 prize package on a shortened 8 month points race and was able to pay for airfare, hotels, and 2 bullets into the $1000 Seniors bracelet event. After being coolered on Day 1A, set over set, Joe busted and lost his starting stack of 20,000 chips.  However, he was prepared and ready to fire again for Day 1B the next day.   Day 1B brought better fortune as he seemed to steadily chip up through the levels.  Joe fought through some turbulence around dinner time and by 11 pm, it was the end of the poker day and he bagged 88,500 in chips. June, 1st, 2023 Newsletter The News.... We bid a fond farewell to Joe Schwenk's live game on Monday, June 2nd.  Those of us that have been fortunate enough to attend some of these know that it has been a real treat to play this monthly game and it will surely be missed.  A special thank you to Joe for hosting all these months.  For those of you who do play this game, I will have some news on continuing this monthly game to be announced both at the tournament on Monday and via this newsletter in 2 weeks.  But for now, I hope to see you for one last game of cards on the Strand!
