The News....

Our test run of sending a player to the WSOP on a merit based points system was a resounding success! 

Joe Schwenk won a $3040.00 prize package on a shortened 8 month points race and was able to pay for airfare, hotels, and 2 bullets into the $1000 Seniors bracelet event.

After being coolered on Day 1A, set over set, Joe busted and lost his starting stack of 20,000 chips.  However, he was prepared and ready to fire again for Day 1B the next day.  

Day 1B brought better fortune as he seemed to steadily chip up through the levels.  Joe fought through some turbulence around dinner time and by 11 pm, it was the end of the poker day and he bagged 88,500 in chips.

Day 2 and 10 am came early for us all but Joe was ready to grind.  Adrienne and I were fortunate to witness the money bubble pop with the 1247th place around noon.  Wouldn't you know it, our boy Joe was still in the thick of it!

After the bubble burst, stacks start getting in left and right.  Before you know it, if you aren't accumulating chips through this process, you can find yourself the short one.  Refusing to be blinded out and wanting to give himself a chance for the win, Joe, like most of the smart players made some moves that put him on a bit of a roller coaster that couldn't get the traction to get that big stack.  Joe busted 534th out of 8180 players.  That is success for sure in this crazy game of tournament poker.

Congratulations Joe! 

As an aside: with almost $1000 already in the prize pool for next year, I am already excited to see what our next winner can do!

More Summer Vegas News.....

While Joe was making his WSOP debut, club veterans Adrienne Culpepper and Ryan Conner were looking to add to their Hendon Mob resumes.

Adrienne bested 369 players and won the daily tournament at the Golden Nugget.  At the same moment, Ryan was duking it out with some of the best in the $1500 turbo bounty bracelet event for a 26th place finish out of 2200 runners.

Congratulations to you both as we are all really proud!
