The News...  Wrapping up the points race season.

Winner winner tofu dinner.

Firstly, I want to thank all of our players that made this season what it was..... a ton of fun.  Let's do it again as I had a blast and not just because I happened to win.

I won first place and will be going to Vegas for the WSOP.  To show you my gratitude to all of our club members, I will be offering some zero markup pieces of myself in the WSOP tournaments that I will choose to play so you can sweat me from afar.  More details on this in a future newsletter as I have a lot to get to today.

Joe and Marty are going into the final week for the battle for the $750 second place prize.  Marty can tie Joe but can not win outright.  Rey and Adrienne fought hard and made great pushes but came up a bit short.

However, for all of you in the "came up short" boat, We will be doing a facebook live drawing from the Galveston VFW on May 2nd at 6:00 pm for the $500 cash prize.  We will do the livestream from our Galveston Poker Group page.  Each point you have after next weeks tournament will be represented by a small wooden ball that will be mixed with all the others.  We will draw one ball from the cannister and the player associated with that number will win the $500 cash.  Be sure to play next week to try to get another entry or 3!

We would love for you to attend the event live and perhaps play in the tournament afterwards hosted by J.D.  The tournament starts at 6:30.  Expect to spend around $100 if you would like to add on at the break.  Everyone is invited.

A couple weeks ago, I sat down and met with Jonathan Ayala and Joe Schwenk to discuss the future of the game and ways in which we can improve it.

Most of the decisions we made were to keep the game flowing in the same manner.  We will still meet on Tuesdays at 7:00 central.  We will keep the buyin at $25.  $5 of it will still go to the WSOP package.

However, there are a few small changes and they have to do with points accumulation.  Points will be as follows: first place will receive 4 points, second place will receive 3 points, third place will receive 2 points.  When and only when we pay the fourth place (18 players+), we will be awarding one point to 4th.

This week's Tip of the Cap goes to.... Me for winning the points race and prize package to Vegas.  Joe had me sweating for a bit especially since he caught up with me last year.  Thank you all for making it a race worth running!

Zoom with Joe!  Joe hosts a free zoom meetup during our Tuesday Freezeout games.  Give it a try if that sounds like fun.

Coach's Corner

I block you and you block me.  We will block each other till we just cant see.  Sorry it's late.

Blockers are something you hear a lot of people talk about but I'm not sure that most people grasp the weight they should use the concept for decision making.

Finding Equilibrium, in their wisdom, will try to educate us on what we want to block and unblock and why.
