Attention all Players..... Seriously, pay attention. Its good for you.

The News...

I'm not sure if you folks check this out very often (we all know Marty does), but it's worth a look once in a while.  We now have 6 players in double digits and a few more at the doorstep.  The excitement is building for those at the top and newcomers alike.

Even if you aren't near the top of the leaderboard, there is information to glean from examining it.  For example, if a player is in the thick of the points race and has a healthy chip stack, perhaps she is more likely to fold to a big bet if she is on a draw.  Or, when it gets to 4 handed, perhaps the point bubble is very important to some players and they will fold more from the big blind to your opens.

The point is, as always, look for the motivations of your opponents.  This leaderboard and the prizes within motivate players.  We would be remiss to not take this free information and use it to our advantage.

This week's Tip of the Cap to goes Joe Schwenk and Jonathan Ayala for running the game while I was away.

Coach's Corner

On a basic level, learning to pay attention in almost any scenario is going to help you understand what is going on in a room or conversation.

Well, poker is no different.  Once you understand the language, you will be surprised at what your opponents are telling you.  And I don't mean verbally.  This exercise will help you in our online game just as much as live!

- beginner -  This is beginner level but you would be surprised at how many good players' attention fails and how often.
