The News...

Getting a bit more specific on the 2024 WSOP prize pool allocation.

I want to give a few words on this process before I get into what details I feel comfortable sharing at this time.  We have been getting consistent numbers of 20-22 players per week (which is awesome for the game) and I felt like this prize pool was growing at such a predictable rate that I could give some more specific details on the 2024 prize pool allocation.  The past 2 weeks, however, our numbers have been down which, in and of itself, is but a blip on the map.  However if that type of dip were to become a trend, it would throw off the predicted prize pool.  So, for now, and as promised, I am giving you the updates and parameters that I feel comfortable predicting.  I hope to have the scope in further focus later this year and hope to have everything out in the open by the end of January.

I am fully aware that I am both making the rules, participating the event, and (at the moment at least) at the top of the leaderboard.  I want to assure you all that I keep the best interests of the group and the competition ahead of my own.  Further, It is because of these potential conflicts, that I try to keep everyone updated as best as possible and with all pertinent information that I have and calculations that I am making.

The following are truths about the 2024 prize pool and its allocation:

  • There will be either one or two WSOP prize pool winners.  This will be decided by the amount of the estimated prize pool.
  • If there are 2 WSOP prizes, the first place and second place prize will be the same or relatively close to the same amount.
  • The winner(s) will be decided by the total number of points accumulated between and including 5.1.23 - 4.30.24.  The winner(s) will be announced after the tournament of 4.30.24.
  • There will be a set mandatory minimum amount of the prize that must be spent on entry(ies) to WSOP bracelet event(s).  (As and example: Joe was required to spend $2000 of his $3040 last year on bracelet event entries).
  • There will be a "no strings attached" prize of $500 to a non WSOP prize winner.  This random "drawing" will take place sometime after the WSOP prizes are awarded with each prize pool point equaling one entry into the drawing.  Once again, the person(s) going to Vegas as a prize will NOT be eligible for this prize.  However, you must have at least one point and therefore one "entry" to be eligible.

Coach's Corner

Ever have an opponent that 3 bets you from in positions almost constantly?

Does that same opponent put your second pair or top pair to the test on the river with big bets?

Your opponent in these situations is an aggressive one and can give you headaches all day long.  Sometimes it's hard to know what to do.

Lucky for your Fedor Holz is here to let you know the mindset and evaluations you need to have and make against these opponents!

Enjoy.
