The News.....
First Monday Game - August 7th
As I stated last time, the merged tournament on the 3rd of July was a huge success. With Becci taking the first one down, I have a lot of optimism that someone in our First Monday group (formerly Joe's Game group) can do it again! In the merged field, we had a total of 36 players and I feel we can beat that number. What's more, I think our players got to know some new faces and playing styles which is always a win.
Our next live game will be this Monday August 7th. Start time is 6:30.

Poker Boom 2?
I try to keep this newsletter short and to the point of our group, but, I feel I would be remiss in not mentioning the possibility of another poker boom.
The WSOP broke every attendance and registration record that is noteworthy. This is a good indicator that the game is growing and that, I believe, is good for everyone involved in the game we love.
Unlike 2004, however, people have a pretty good grasp of fundamentals (at least in no limit holdem).
So lets play cards. Lets study away from the table. Lets learn some new poker varieties when we feel comfortable. Its a beautiful game and, in my opinion, offers something different for everyone.
