The News...

Thank you to everyone that came out to our live game at the VFW on the 3rd of July.  I know with the holiday, some of you weren't able to attend but the 13 of us who did made some 36 total players and we had a great time.  I have been playing at that VFW game for a year or so and it was definitely the largest turnout and the largest prize pool in that time.  What's more, our very own Becci won it all.  Congratulations Becci!

Our next live game will be Monday August 7th.  I hope we have an even bigger showing and one of the Freezeout Gang can do it again!

If you have any questions on the format or buy-in, shoot me an email and we can go over it.

2024 WSOP Prize Package Parameters...

I hope everyone has had a chance to keep up (at least a little bit) with this year's WSOP with the Main event wrapping up to the final table today.  As another WSOP comes to its conclusion, I thought it might be a good time to set up some parameters on which our points race will run for the 2024 prize package.

This is not set in stone as a lot could happen as far as our attendance numbers and therefore the ultimate prize pool.  However, I think it would be prudent to let you know what you can likely expect.

1. There will NOT be a Main Event prize package.  I don't expect there to be enough funds for the $10k buy-in and even if there were, it would be better for the culture of the club to send multiple players on smaller packages.  So get any idea of a Main freeroll out of thine head.  Of course, this doesn't mean that you can't take the package and put it towards your Main buy-in.

2. There WILL be at least one $500 cash drawing with no strings attached to the money.  This will be a merit based system as every point acquired through the year will get an "entry" into a random drawing that will award the cash prize.  Any WSOP prize winners' entries will be removed from the drawing prior to selection.  The drawing will take place sometime soon after the points race has been decided.  Stay tuned for details.

3. Depending on the amount in the prize pool, it is possible that more than one WSOP package will be awarded.  This decision will be based, largely, on the size of the prize pool.  I will announce and keep players up to date on this well before the race comes to an end via this newsletter.
Hopefully we will have a real good idea where we are on this in January.

4. Any WSOP prize pool does come with strings attached.  For instance, Joe won a little over $3000 prize last year but was required to spend $1500 of that on WSOP bracelet entries and would have had to return any unused portion of that $1500 to the next year's pool.  Spending requirement will be set when we get an idea of what the prize looks like.  Rest assured that there will be enough "extra" money for the plane ticket and lodging.

5. As of now we have a prize pool of $1165 after 2.5 months.  You can do the math but our numbers have been up and I am really excited about doing this race again.  You can see all the numbers of prize pool and leaderboard at:

The production quality of this video is humorous but if you can get past that, he has some good poker tips and some good etiquette tips as well for those of you who haven't played a lot of live poker but hope to soon.  This video is definitely worth a quick watch before you head of to your local card room or casino.
